My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pretty blue cream girl for adoption .

Courtesy Post

Tiger Lilly is a refined, beautiful diluted Calico girl. She was a fierce mother to THREE litters of kittens in her young life. When I found her, she had one weened older kitten, one 6 - 8 week old kitten still nursing and was pregnant with her last litter. I live trapped them all and did not realize she was pregnant because she was so thin. By the time I realized the weight she gained was more that good eats - it was too late to spay and she had her 3 and final litter of kittens.

Tiger Lilly would not let me touch her until she had labor complications. I assumed she was feral, but now I realized she was under socialized and had not had great people experiences. Once she realized I was there to help -- and decided humans were okay, she blossomed quickly and has become a loving and playful girl. Tiger Lilly has been vetted and spayed! We estimate her to be around 2 to 3 years old. She is a healthy girl with that typical calico catitude!

During the vetting process, she tested FIV positive (which is not a big deal!) We suspect she was infected protecting her kittens at some point. The fact she only had 2 kittens from her previous litter paints a dark picture. She is the best mommy! Tiger Lilly would do best with a quiet home. She does well with older, respectful kids - but young kids may frighten her.

Tiger Lilly lived her whole life watching out for predators and caring for kittens - she needs a place that feels safe! She will approach for love and hop into your lap for some quality time. She is a very sweet girl but not overly demanding. This girl just started playing with toys in the last year of life. It always melts my heart to see her carefree, and playing! This girl needs an indoor home with patient people. Special people that understand and adore her as much as I do! Tiger Lilly was pulled out of a life of abandonment, constant danger and endless kittens. She deserves to be cherished and doted on in her happy ever after home.

Tiger Lilly would love an animal companion in her new home. She would require a slow introduction! She has been known to growl alert warnings at delivery people, and at the neighbors pig. She is great with her kittens, but after a beginning on the street can be very guarded with other animals. I will provide instructions on how to introduce.

I am requiring an adoption application. vet reference, personal references and an adoption contract. Adopters will need to do a meet and greet at my home to see her in a familiar setting before the adoption, and I will require a home visit as well! I love these babies like my own, and want a family that considers them to be part of the family, not 'just a cat'.

If you are interested in meeting Tiger Lilly, please reach out! I would love to speak with you.  Tiger Lilly is in the Triangle area of NC.

More about this rescue

Dedicated to finding exceptional homes for exceptional cats

Specializing in Manx, but we'll accept Japanese or American Bobtails and Pixie-bobs

In 1995 my neighbor's Manx cat had kittens. There was a tiny runt in the litter that wasn't expected to survive. I was there when the kittens were born, and I volunteered to provide a home for the runt if she made it. That was Misty, and the beginning of my love for the Manx breed.
After several years of rescuing Manx and other tailless cats through all breed rescues, in 2006 I decided to start my own rescue and TCR was born.

TCR is run entirely out of foster homes. So the number of cats we can take at a time is limited to the space we have. We also have to respect NC law which limits the number of animals that can be fostered at a time. And we will only have as many cats as we can afford to care for at one time.

TCR is all about the cats. The rescue is based on the highest standards of honesty, ethics, and care for the cats in our program. Our motto is "Dedicated to finding exceptional homes for exceptional cats". And Manx and other tailless breeds really have exceptional personalities and deserve the best homes possible.

Most of the cats come from animal shelters or pounds where they have run out of time and are going to be euthanized. We generally don't take owner surrendered cats. We believe that once you make a commitment to a cat, it should be for a lifetime. We will assist owners in how to find homes for their cats if they can no longer keep them, and will provide access to expert advice on solving behavioral or health problems so that it is more likely they can stay in their homes.
