My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jaz!
Jaz is a spunky, free-spirited girl with a heart full of energy and a serious love for toys! This altered female came to us as an owner surrender after some tension with the other dog in the home, so we think she’d do best as the only pet.

Jaz is all about fun! She’s hyper, playful, and absolutely lives for her toys. Whether she’s tossing them around or zooming through the yard, she brings high vibes wherever she goes. That said, she can be a little possessive with her toys, so her future family should be ready to work with her on sharing and setting boundaries.

If you're looking for a lively, loving companion who’s ready for adventure (and a toy basket full of squeakies), Jaz might just be your girl!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Be aware that completing an application does not guarantee approval for your chosen animal.

•You will need to complete an application. We will process it. Please allow between 48 and 72 hours (maybe longer if it's over a weekend or holiday).
• Potential adopters must provide good medical care for the animals, so we expect that any current animal(s) in your home are up to date on all required vaccines and are spayed and neutered. We will contact your current veterinarian for this information. If, for some reason, your current animal(s) cannot receive vaccinations, submit a verification letter from your veterinarian. Some veterinarians require that the owners of the pet(s) give consent to release the client’s pet history to us. Please be sure to contact your veterinarian and inform them that we will be contacting them.
•We will also contact your references and, if necessary, a landlord to verify you are permitted to have a pet.
•Many of the animals in our care have suffered a traumatic past and have been poorly cared for, so we need to be assured they will be going to a safe and loving environment. Because of this, we may access public records of potential adopters, including criminal background checks.
• Any current dogs in your home must have a valid dog license.
•If the dog/cat you have chosen has not yet been spayed or neutered at the time of adoption. A spay/neuter contract must be signed on the day of adoption.
•If you already have a dog, a meet-and-greet must occur between your current dog and the dog you intend to adopt. The same is suggested for children in the home. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASHES WHEN ON SHELTER PROPERTY.

(For Cats) If you have young children, we ask that you bring those children to meet with the cat you intend to adopt.

If you already have an animal(s), a meet-and-greet is not required when adopting a cat, but one can be arranged at the adopter's request. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASHES, AND ALL CATS MUST BE IN CARRIERS WHEN ON SHELTER PROPERTY.

All cats must leave in a carrier that is size-appropriate and in good working order.

More about this shelter

We make every effort to find homes for every animal in our care. When our shelter is over-crowded, we rely on a network of "foster families" to take care of our pets. All the while, we have increased our efforts to "get the word out" about our pets (e.g. this website, pictures, newspaper publicity, etc.) Our efforts pay off.

The Staff and Board of Directors at the Humane Society love pets, and our actions bear out that simple fact. Our animal guests get the very best care while they are with us.

Please help! We need volunteers to help us exercise the dogs. We try to walk the dogs each day to provide them with the exercise and attention they so desperately need. You can volunteer as little or as much as you like. If you would be interested in helping us care for our animal guests, please call the shelter at 814-443-2121.
