My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a charming feline companion who embodies both grace and gentleness? Look no further than Henderson! This 3 year old handsome fellow is a bit shy at first but quickly warms up to gentle affection and kind words. With his slow-moving demeanor, Henderson exudes an air of tranquility that is simply irresistible.

One of Henderson's most endearing qualities is his adorable little meow. It's as if he has a secret language all his own, and once you hear it, your heart will melt! His fluffy coat adds to his appeal, making cuddle sessions extra cozy and delightful.

Henderson is a cautious cat who likes to take his time to explore new surroundings. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he enjoys quiet moments lounging by the window or curling up in a cozy spot for a catnap.

If you're looking for a sweet and thoughtful companion who will bring warmth and joy to your home, Henderson is the perfect match for you. Come meet this charming kitty and discover the love and companionship he has to offer!

Additional adoption info

1) Adoptions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. The first step is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

More about this shelter

Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.

Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 200-250 cats and kittens at any given time.

The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
