My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Rene, a cat with a personality to behold! Born in 2017, Rene is a one-of-a-kind feline who marches to the beat of her own drum. With her independent spirit and quirky charm, she's sure to capture your heart from the moment you meet her.

Rene is a master of amusement, always finding new and inventive ways to entertain herself and those around her. Whether she's chasing shadows, playing with toys, or exploring her surroundings, Rene's quick and nimble movements are a joy to behold.

Despite her playful nature, Rene is also incredibly alert and watchful. She's keenly aware of her environment and takes her role as guardian of her domain very seriously. With her wise eyes and perceptive nature, Rene is always one step ahead, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.

However, Rene's complex personality can sometimes lead to moodiness. Like any true diva, she has her moments of introspection and contemplation. While she may appreciate affection on her own terms, she also values her independence and space.

For this reason, Rene would thrive in a home with an experienced adopter who understands her unique needs and can provide her with the patience and understanding she deserves. With the right person by her side, Rene is sure to blossom into the loyal and loving companion she was always meant to be.

If you're looking for a cat who's as amusing as she is wise, as quick as she is watchful, look no further than Rene. Adopt this extraordinary feline today and discover the joy of sharing your life with a true original!

Additional adoption info

1) Adoptions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. The first step is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

More about this shelter

Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.

Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 200-250 cats and kittens at any given time.

The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
