Meet Captain Kirk! This charismatic little guy is believed to be a Yorkie/Maltese mix & around 6 years old. He weighs in around 9lbs. Kirk has a bit of a traumatic past as he was found alone on the streets of Detroit. He was taken to the local pound where he was just terrified of what was happening. He was defensive & unable to thrive. Since his rescue little Kirk has blossomed into a fun-loving little dude! Kirky is a sensitive soul who absolutely adores his caregiver. He wants nothing more than to follow you around, sit on your lap or get as close as humanly possible. He’s an active guy most of the time, but also knows when to cuddle & nap. He’s on the insecure side, so we imagine his human makes him feel comfort. Kirk has many nicknames including Kirky Turkey, Kirkland & just plain Kirk. Good thing is he responds to all of them!
An ideal home for Kirk would include-
👽 A playmate! Kirk loves other dogs & would highly benefit from having a buddy to wrestle with. He’s a non-dominant dog who will befriend anyone ready to get their wrestle on! We have not cat tested him, but feel he would probably be fine with felines.
👽 An empathic owner who understands Kirky still needs time to get over his trauma. He can be fearful of people & things he’s unfamiliar with, but is more comfortable everyday. His ideal pet parent would be more soft spoken & encouraging instead of authoritative and demanding.
👽 Due to his breeds, he’s a bit more on the barky side at times, so apartment living is not in the cards for him. He’s not overly loud, but will voice his opinion when dinner is being made, it’s time to go out, etc. He speaks out of happiness!

Kirk is current on all his vaccinations, including Rabies, DHPP, Lepto, and Bordetella. He has also been fecal and heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped.
