Hey there, humans! My name is Spike and I am a strikingly handsome 2-year-old male dog., but my personality is larger than life. As an alpha, I take pride in my independence and I'm always seeking adventure. I'm an active and playful pup who will keep you on your toes!

I may have had a rough start in life as a stray, but I've learned to appreciate the simple things in life. That's why I'm looking for a special home where I can be the center of attention. As much as I love people, I prefer to be the only pet in the house. I know, I know, I'm a bit of a diva, but I promise to love and protect my humans with all my heart.

I'm a people pleaser and I will do anything to make my humans happy. Whether it's playing fetch in the park or snuggling on the couch, I'm always up for some quality time with my favorite people. Just be warned, I will steal your heart with my charming and goofy personality.

More about this rescue

A.C.A. is a network of foster homes, an entity formed to help animals from Evansville Vanderburgh Animal Care and Control. Most of the animals in our foster care program have all come directly from EVACC.

We choose to pull from EVACC because of the thousands of great animals that come through the shelter each year. Thousands of cats and dogs (and some chickens, horses, and small furries) are relinquished to the shelter each year. Some are given up by owners, victims of hard times, or new living circumstances. A larger portion have come in as strays, found on the streets of Evansville, held for 7 days at the shelter for an owner to reclaim them, and then given a very short period of time in which to find an adoptive home before the kennel is needed again for the next animal that comes in.
