Here's what the humans have to say about me:
He came to us on Valentine's Day so of course we said "He must be named Valentine". He was also such a little embodiment of love he earned his name that way too.
The moment he was finished with his California mandated " five day shelter hold" we were there to ask for him and take him home. In his shelter photo he looked so sad and downtrodden he grabbed my Himi loving heart. I was impatient every minute I waited to get him out. I have included his shelter photo below so you can see what I mean. Poor little guy, what was his story?
I still cannot imagine his story. I know he was living outside. And was filthy. I know rainwater on a Himalayan's long hair creates thick painful matts. The shelter shaved him and his back and side coat came off in one huge inch thick piece. I know he was a pretty good weight and had no fleas. He wasn't neutered.
So we know Valentine was outside much, if not all, the time. He was fed and was given flea meds. Someone loved him because he is a cat who loves being held and cuddled by everyone. He doesn't know how to play with a feather wand. He doesn't even notice balls and toys rolling along the floor. He doesn't sleep in cat beds or on fabric ( what is that? he says ). He uses his litterbox. Valentine loves food of all sorts, wet and dry. He seems interested in other cats but we do not yet know how he is with them.
We haven't had him long. He was neutered the day they shaved him which was just a couple hours before we picked him up. He was the saddest little boy. Our hearts melted. He clung to us. Poor little thing. Each week we saw his expression lightening little by little. Now sometimes he looks a little smug, confident in his health and preciousness. He is coming into himself very quickly all things considered. A bath made quite a difference, especially to his feet.
Look at his photo's, some still show an underlying sadness in his eyes. Valentine's new family will have the satisfaction of seeing him unfold and blossom in his new life of being a treasured family member. His fur is growing and in a month he will look like a wooly lamb with a pompom tail. I don't know what to call his coloring. He has gold on his cheeks and feet and lilac on his forehead. When his coat grows in you can decide what color he really is. He is certainly a beauty with his blue blue eyes.
Some family will be so lucky to have his entertaining companionship and warm grateful little heart.
Valentine is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
