My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

World, meet Lyra!

Lyra is a beautiful petite floofy girl, but don't let her appearance fool you - she is feisty! Lyra has slowly come out of her shell with her foster mom, but she is fearful at first and will need a patient adopter and a small room to start in. She enjoys head and chin scritches as well as pats along her back and belly, which she exposes often when she is comfortable. She enjoys brushing in short grooming sessions and Churu as a reward, and will tolerate nail trims. She requires regular brushing to avoid mats, but you must work slowly with her. She will pin back her ears and swat when she loses patience or becomes overstimulated. For these reasons she would do best in a home without small children, as she needs her people to understand her cues.

Lyra loves ALL other cats (including her foster parent's 14 year old resident cat who does not like visitors), and she will chirp and roll around when she sees one of the residents of her foster home. She would do well with a confident, friendly cat to teach her that coexisting with humans is fun. She does enjoy wand toys but also appreciates a nice covered bed to retreat into when she has had enough stimulation. She is nervous when exposed to new situations, but time and patience in foster care have turned her into a more confident kitty.

Lyra is just over a year old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. Do you have the time, patience, and love needed to set this beautiful girl up for success? Please apply today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
