My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm a very sweet and regal man. I love to sit on the top of the cat towers and look out at my kingdom. I'm a very friendly boy who is always down for some pets, just watch out for the love bites! I'm SUPER playful and I absolutely LOVE toys! Any kind is great with me! I have so much fun playing with the staff and volunteers with the wand toys. When I try to nibble on their hands and bear trap them under the guise of belly rubs they tend to give me kicker toys, which I also love. I really enjoy playing with other cats too, they just need to keep up with my crazy energy. I love to wrestle! I might be about 2, but I am still a kitten at heart. Oh and did I mention that I LOVE to snuggle up under blankies?

*We DO NOT transfer dogs to other shelters or transport for the purpose of adoption. We do not adopt over 350 miles away.

You MUST be able/willing to come to the shelter to meet the animal you are interested in.

More about this shelter

It is the primary mission of CCHS to operate a "no time limits" shelter for domestic (non-feral) dogs and cats from Keweenaw, Houghton, and Baraga Counties and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in accordance with the guidelines set by the Michigan Department of Agriculture. The shelter receives animals from animal control and private citizens. CCHS works to return lost animals to their owners and to identify suitable homes for the remaining animals. These animals are not judged by "time of stay" to determine adoptability. Euthanasia will be considered per veterinarian recommendation based on health, temperament and quality of life and will only be performed by a veterinarian. While in our care, animals receive professional, quality care by concerned individuals dedicated to helping animals.
