My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sweet Pete! This 1-year-old Dachshund-Miniature Pincher blend weighs 9 lbs. Sweet Pete is a young guy with tons of puppy energy and is always on the go!

  • General Behavior: Sweet Pete, or Petey, as his friends call him, is a friendly boy! He is quite exuberant when meeting new people and other dogs. As active as he is, when his energy runs out, Sweet Pete likes nothing more than to sleep on his person's lap or as close to that person as possible. He's a little lovebug and will stare at you with his dark, expressive eyes, melting your heart.

  • Likes & Dislikes: Sweet Pete loves going for walks, running around in the backyard, rooting through the toy box to see what catches his interest, and playing with other dogs.

  • Training: This young guy is working hard on his training skills. He's learning to walk on the leash but does get excited, which sometimes causes him to bark at other dogs while on his walk. He is doing very well with housetraining when kept on a regular schedule and let out frequently. He likes treats, which will help with training as he learns the ropes in his forever home. He already knows how to sit!

  • Medical: Petey is a healthy boy and just requires his monthly heartworm and flea preventative.

  • Other Animals: Sweet Pete interacts well with other playful pups! He has not yet been introduced to any cats.

  • Children: Pete would do well with kids 10+ who understand doggie boundaries.

  • Home: This active pooch will require a single-family home without directly connected neighbors. When he hears noises outside, Pete sometimes runs to the window to bark, and we wouldn't want him bothering anyone. As a young guy with lots of energy, he will need a fenced-in backyard and a family that can commit to providing him with daily walks and exercise.

  • Grooming: Sweet Pete has a soft, glossy coat so won’t need grooming beyond baths.

  • Overall: Sweet Pete is a fun guy with so much love to give to a dog-loving family!

Are you the one for Sweet Pete? Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption donation is $450.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
