Sasha is 2 1/2yo, weighs 35lbs, is intact, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Sasha's guardian adds:

"I love Sasha very much but I have another dog Rose which I have had for 5 years. Sasha is very playful and an alpha female and Rose has a bad acc so when they play I worry that she will continue to hurt Rose.  When I first got Sasha she seemed like she was caged a lot and un familiar with water and she kept lifting her feet up like she was confused.  Sasha needs to be in a one dog household.  She use to be food aggressive but she is no longer that way!! But I am disabled and she needs more help than I can give her!!  She is very strong and I’m hurting myself by keeping her! I want you to know that she lunged and bitme once in the beginning because she went after Rose because I didn’t give them the same treat .  I saw her mind working on how she wanted to get what she wanted and I jumped in her way.  She still needs help with potty training but she’s a lot better! I just can’t give her what she needs!!  She is very smart and sweet!!  Be careful when you are walking her a truck goes by because she will try to go after the truck to protect you!!  Please give her a good home!! I have had nightmares about where she will end up!  I guess that’s why I took her I didn’t want her go to someone who just wanted to breed her.

My family knows that 2 dogs are too much for me but it’s been so hard worrying that she might not get a forever home with people who love her!!

She loves to cuddle and so sweet!  She knows sit and not always does it work.  Sasha doesn't like the back yard; that's why I have to walk her.  During the day, Sasha is on my bed and sleeps by me in the be at night.  She's scared when she is in the car.  I rub her and try to cuddle with her."

Sasha's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "I wish I could keep her but she is too strong for me and she needs more training than I can give her."

Lunge/Attack/Bite Incident:  In 2023, in Wilmington, DE, Sasha scratched and bit her guardian; no medical treatement was sought and animal control was not involved.   Sash's guardian explains:

"I try to give both of the dogs the same treats so this wouldn’t happen but I lost one of the treats.  I was giving the dogs a treat and Sasha ate hers and I saw her brain moving and she was going after Rose and I got in the middle.  I feel really bad that I didn’t take more time finding the other one.  I put some antiseptic on one area and it never happened again. No one was called."

Sasha's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  A cracked tooth which became infected, was surgically removed and she's has since recovered.  "She has an upset stomach so I give her medicine when she has problems eating."

Sasha's guardian states the following regarding children:  Sasha hasn't lived with children, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children aged 10 and older, stating...

"My granddaughter comes over and Shasta loves her but she is really jumpy and it scares my granddaughter because both dogs are trying to get her attention.

She she see other children outside she is too strong for me and she wants to play with them."

Sasha's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Sasha lives with a dog, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating...

"Rose barks at other dogs that are by my house and so does Sasha.  It’s hard to control them when other dogs are walking around but I take her to the house and we wait it out."

Sasha's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Sasha hasn't lived with cats so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "She tries to go after them".

Sasha's guardian describes her as:

Very active
Barks alot
Quiet
Playful
Friendly
Likes to be touched
Affectionate
Independent
Protective
Always at your side
Indoor dog
Crate-Trained
Likes men
Likes women
Digger

Sasha's guardian describes her ideal future home:

"I want her to have someone who wants to walk her out constantly and how will let her sleep with her in their bed.  And someone who she doesn’t have to share her lap with,! I just want her HAPPY!!"

More about this rescue

Rescue Well was founded by Christine Sandberg in Baltimore, Maryland in 2011. Since its launch, it’s grown from offering post-adoption support to the city shelter, to offering several programs across Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. Our Programs focus on improving the lives of both pets and its owners. We proudly serve without judgment or expectations and we strictly follow our Rescue Well Engagement Model: ENGAGE > EDUCATE > EMPOWER.

Our organization’s programs are run by volunteers who are actively engaged in front-line intervention, community support, shelter support, and re-homing services for all pets.
