My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Brutus aka "Beetlejuice"! Brutus is a kind old soul that came to us through one of our local shelter partners a few months ago. He wasn't in the best of shape when he arrived also was in much pain and was untrusting of humans. Thankfully that is behind him, he has made a complete turnaround! Brutus is now ready and looking for his fur-ever family and home, so let us tell you about him.

Brutus is 19 lbs. solid & estimated to be at least 10 yrs. young. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on flea tick & heartworm preventative, walks well on leash, sleeps through the night in his bed or yours, house trained, does not have to be crated when left alone since he is not destructive. His teeth were so atrocious he had to have all but two teeth removed which doesn't affect his eating at all - he still eats his kibble with no issues. His fur is growing back after he had lost most of it from the severe flea dermatitis.

Brutus is on medications that he will most likely stay on the rest of his life, (a) takes thyroid tablet twice daily (b) allergy/itching tablet once per day (c) eye drops in eyes three times daily (d) eye lubricant gel at least once per day, and for the time being a medicated bath twice per week (it's helping his fur come back). Brutus is completely deaf and partially vision impaired which doesn't slow him down. Brutus does great with children of all ages; he likes humans now and will greet you with kisses and a wiggle. He is good with other dogs; he will give the laid-back ones their space and play hard with the playful ones. Unknown how he is with cats although with his personality it is believed there would be no issues. He loves playing with you and his toys, one of his favorite things to do is empty the toy bin one by one watch you put them back in toy bin so he can pull them out again. He does take several naps a day. His foster mom states he is one of the most lovable, carefree, intelligent fur-babies ever, and considers him low maintenance (a pleasure treasure). Brutus had been let down in the past and still he turned around and put his trust in humans let's not disappoint him. Please consider giving Brutus the fur-ever family and home he so deserves!

More about this rescue

Renee's Rescues is an all-volunteer rescue organization based in Delaware. Our focus is to rescue misplaced, abandoned, mistreated, abused and/or ill canines and place them into loving homes.

We do a significant amount of rescue work with dogs acquired from large-scale breeding operations. Most, if not all, spent life in cages or outdoor hutches prior to rescue. Our dedicated foster families assist with house-training and crate-training before they are adopted. Additionally, our fosters provide extra TLC and socialization. This enables them to flourish as they start their new chapter of life.

On the fence about adopting? That's okay! We are always looking for new foster families. We provide all veterinary care and supplies. You provide the love. To learn more, please visit www.reneesrescues.org, and fill out a foster application under the Forms tab. You can email your application to applications@reneesrescues.org.
