My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oreo recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say!

1st DDO:
"Oreo is a SWEET senior who truly believes he is a giant lap dog. He wanted to spend the majority of the day lounging in the grass getting belly rubs and snuggling his duck toy.

We started our day at the pet store- he was a gentleman and never grabbed a single toy/treat unless prompted. On his shopping list were yummy freeze dried chicken treats and a toy. He picked a cute duck toy and carried it around in his mouth all day!

Next, we went to grab a pup cup. Oreo politely declined but he did enjoy the car ride!

Lastly, we lounged in the grass and went on a nice walk around the neighborhood before cooling off inside.

Pros:
- Expert treat catcher
- Loves snuggles
- EXCELLENT car rider
- Gentle treat taker
- Food motivated

Areas of Opportunity:
- he occasionally jumps out of excitement but is very food motivated and can easily learn not to jump
- he walks great but if he passes another dog he gets very excited (not aggressively reactive at all!)"

2nd DDO:
"I recently enjoyed a DDO with Oreo. We started the day at Petsmart for a toy. We went for a short walk around the neighborhood and then hung out inside.

He is house trained and let me know when he needed to go out. He loved chewing toys! He politely declined my offer to sit on the couch. So I sat in the floor with him where he proceeded to curl up in my lap.

He's a big boy but oh so sweet! It is hard to believe he is 11 yo. We enjoyed a short walk in the park before returning to the shelter. He was excited to see people and dogs!

HW+ but it is not contagious to people or other pets. He is available for adoption at the Guilford County Animal Shelter everyday 12-4 except Tuesdays."

As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.

To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
