My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oona is available through our "Adopt From a Foster Home" program. Please email adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in scheduling a meeting. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as Oona is not available to meet on site.

**Oona is a Patient Paw, please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**

Age: 5 years old
Weight: 35kg / 77lb

A little bit about Oona:
- Cats unknown, all introductions should be done slowly over multiple sessions and carefully supervised
- No small animals
- Potential for home with children (11+)
- Potential for home with select other large dog pending successful dog-to-dog

Meet Oona, a gentle 5-year-old German Shepherd searching for her forever family! Oona is a sweet girl who can be initially shy around new people but quickly warms up to show her playful and social side. She loves snoozing at your feet or taking long walks in Fish Creek Park, smelling all the smells. Her foster family reports that she has very manageable energy levels and walks well on leash. She loves interacting with larger dogs but prefers a home without small dogs.

With patience, love, and a healthy lifestyle, Oona will blossom into a happy and active companion. She's likely do best in an active, quiet home that can provide her with exercise while respecting her need to have her space respected. If you're ready to provide Oona with the care and attention she deserves, she'll repay you with loyalty and affection for years to come!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
