My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: Due to some inappropriate defecation, Speedy and Leo will need a little longer before they are ready to go to their new forever homes! You are welcome to submit an application and/or come down to visit them, however we won't be reviewing applications until a later date.

Meet Leo and Speedy!

As they have lived their entire lives together, they will have to go home together as a bonded pair.

These two robust cuddle-bugs are as sweet as they come. Despite their large size, they will both do their best to be able to fit on your lap for cuddle time. They love laying on laps and chests and snuggling up close. They also go crazy for brush time.

Speedy in particular (the one with more white on her body) seems to struggle with litter box usage, she usually poops right beside her litter box instead of inside of it, she does urinate in her box correctly though.

They are both very on the overweight side and will need to be on a strict diet, as well as kept on a food sensitivity diet. As their size makes it hard for them to clean their backsides, they may need assistance from their adopter with a warm damp rag until they get down to a smaller size.

They are very comfortable being picked up and held, and would make perfect pets for a homebody or someone seeking two excessively cuddly companions.

Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Leo and Speedy's person? Apply today!

Friendly tip: If you're looking for a surefire way to make your application to stand out, consider telling us a little bit about yourself in the "anything else you'd like us to know?" section! What brought you to adopt? Have you had any previous pets? What makes you the perfect match for this animal? Write as little or as much as you'd like!

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort
