My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey, I'm Matteo! You might hear me howlin before we even cross paths, but I'm just eager to let everyone know I'm still here! I'm patiently waiting for my forever family! I promise not to be too noisy, I just cant contain my excitement at the thought of finding my forever home! Some of my favorite activities include chowing down, playing around, and spending quality time with those I adore. If you've got another pup at home, I'd be happy to do a meet and greet. I have yet to meet any cats. I'm confident I'll make an awesome companion and I'll wag my tail all the way into your heart! Come on over and meet me today!

More about this shelter

WHO WE ARE

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) (formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 60 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.

We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization, and we are not a United Way Agency. We are an open-admission shelter and we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost, and neglected animals.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organization. We are a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
