My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our unusual resident, Quinn the quail!

This sweet bird found himself lost and alone in a Save on Foods parking lot, where he was rescued by a kind member of the public. Sweet Quinn has clearly been loved before as he is social and fairly confident. He loves to scratch around his enclosure looking for food, and taking dust paths to keep his feathers looking their best.

Quinn will need suitable housing either indoors as a house quail or outside with a flock in a predator-proof and weather-proof enclosure. In either scenario, Quinn will need plenty of space with lots of enrichment to keep him entertained.

Quinn is looking for a calm (ideally Quail-experienced) home with a guardian who understands a Quail's needs!

**Quinn is now at our Surrey barn and is ready for adoption.

If you think you would be a good fit for Quinn please submit an online application at https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/equine-farm-animal-adoption-application-form/#gf_13. You can contact us at surreygoodshepherdbarn@spca.bc.ca with any questions.
Our dedicated staff will reach out to the first suitable adopter to set up a visit with Quinn! Please note that visitation is by appointment only.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
