Chickpea was rescued from the streets and no owner was found
She gets along with other dogs , except when it comes to treats and toys and then she shows her displeasure
She is submissive and fine with people but dogs that get in her face or try to take her food or toys do not fair well !
She will do better as an only dog and with someone who does not work all day long as she does have separation anxiety and it’s has gotten better ,we have her crate trained now and crate her when we leave and at night
she will always want to be by your side,she is very submissive with people ,she will lie down in front of you,roll over on her back and not move !! she’s a beautiful dog , we have no idea what breed mix she is and she is getting more confident every day, she will need a very experienced owner that can continue to work with her,she is only approx 1 year old and still a puppy
she weighs approximately 32 lbs
she tested low positive for heartworms and has completed her heartworm treatment with the shots required by the AHA, we find that the dogs test negative in 2-4 months, she has been started on a monthly heart guard and nexguard for fleas and ticks.

OUR RESCUE POLICY - It is our rescue policy for all our dogs that we require a home with experienced dog owners only and no children under that age of 8 years.
The total adoption fee of $500 ( and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, distemper ,canine influenza, and microchip. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. Our application is online at

We require all adopters to fill out an initial application so that we can check references. We try to match our dogs with a family that fits the needs and individuality of our homeless pets. We work tirelessly to find the right homes with people who will love their pets for a lifetime. We do this through email, phone, and any other means of communication to ensure a good fit.
