My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Daisy Requiers Another Confident Dog In the Home"

Hello, I'm Daisy, a pup with quite a story to tell. My life began on a vast breeding farm, where the world was an endless cycle of sameness, the heavy chain around my neck a constant reminder of my purpose: to bring new puppies into the world for the farmer. It was a monotonous existence, but it was all I knew. Then, everything changed. Humans came and took me away from the only life I had ever known, and suddenly, I was thrust into a world full of terrifying new experiences.

Living inside a house was a concept as alien to me as the moon. The sounds were so different – the scrape of chairs on hardwood floors sent shivers down my spine. I had never really interacted with humans before, and now they were everywhere, wanting to be close, to touch me. They were kind, but kindness was a language I was only just beginning to understand. I was always on alert, ready to bolt to safety at any moment. The floors were a patchwork of textures, some hard and slick, others soft and yielding, and I found it all very disconcerting. Leashes were another source of fear; they had only ever been used to control me harshly, so I despised them.

Under the dining table, I discovered a sanctuary, a place where the world couldn't reach me, and it became my haven. Slowly, I'm learning to trust these new humans. They offer me treats, little tokens of a kindness I'm still trying to comprehend. But trust is a journey, and I'm taking it one cautious step at a time. They speak of a 'forever family,' a concept that fills me with both hope and apprehension. A family where I might finally learn what it means to feel safe and loved. Could you be the one to show me this beautiful new world? Could you be my forever family?

Dear Prospective Adopter,

Daisy is a resilient soul who has been under our care for some time now. Daisy's journey has been one of quiet strength and gradual healing. She came to us with a heart full of fear, a spirit wary of the world around her. She spent 24/7 beneath our dining table, the only place she felt secure. Yet, through patience and gentle coaxing, we've seen glimmers of trust begin to emerge.

Our approach has been one of small, consistent steps. We began by shifting her food and water, inch by inch, further into the room, encouraging her to venture out from her safe haven. High-value treats, like savory bacon, were scattered just beyond her reach, a tempting trail leading her to new ground. We tread lightly in her presence, our movements deliberate and unhurried, always mindful of her sensitivity.

As we sit by her side, our voices soft, Daisy has started to accept our company. She shows a preference for the nurturing presence of women, though with time, she's learning that men too can offer kindness. Recently, she's discovered the comfort of a gentle touch, allowing slow, tender pets that speak of growing confidence.

Daisy's needs are simple yet profound. She asks for a home where patience is abundant, where the echoes of her past traumas can fade into distant memories. A family with a calm presence, experienced in the language of dogs, would be her ideal sanctuary. A fenced yard would provide her the freedom to explore without the fear and chain that once bound her. Another confident dog, who could help teach her the ropes of being a dog.

While Daisy's road to becoming a cuddly companion may be long, the rewards promise to be immeasurable. To witness her transformation, to be the guiding light in her world of shadows, is a chance to forge a bond of extraordinary depth. We are prepared to foster her for as long as she needs, but should a very special forever home beckon—a home willing to embrace her as she is and dedicate themselves to her growth—we are ready to step aside to allow another family to write Daisy’s next chapter of recovery together.

We hold onto hope for Daisy's future, a future filled with love and security. Perhaps, in reading this, you feel a stir within your heart, a call to be part of her story. Could you be the one to unlock the full potential of her gentle spirit?

With hope,

Daisy's Foster Family

Additional adoption info

We want to be sure that the adoption process is as smooth and positive an experience as possible. Our animals are in foster homes and we do everything we can to learn as much about their likes and dislikes, temperament and activity level as we can while in our care. By doing so, it enables us to work more closely with a potential adopter to help ensure a "good fit." The adoption process might take a bit longer than adopting from a shelter, but our ultimate goal is finding a match that benefits not just the animal, but also the family interested in adopting.

We are looking to let our adopters chose the speed of the adoption process. To start the process, we require that an adoption application be completed. Once submitted, we will connect with you to discuss the type of animal you're looking for, your lifestyle and home environment, and what the best fit may be. At times, we may request to conduct a home visit, which can often be done in tandem with what we refer to a "meet and greet" where you have the opportunity to meet and interact with the animal(s) you're interested in adopting. Ad part of our process we conduct background check on all applicants, will check personal and vet references also. Our goal is always the proper placement for any adopted animal, which may mean that the animal you originally are interested in may turn out to not be the best fit, but we will work with you to find a better match. Adoption fees include spaying/neutering of all animals, age appropriate vaccinations ad microchipping and range anywhere from $80-$175 for cats and $200-$450 for dogs.

Prior to finalizing adoptions we require a signed Contract & Agreement which includes an understanding that if for any reason the animal does not work out that you will return them back to The Rescue Crew.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

As all of our animals are in private foster homes, we do not have a facility where adoptable animals can be met. However, we do host adoption events occasional throughout the Twin Cities metro area, and those will be posted both on our website and Facebook pages.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Minnesota-based animal rescue organization which strives to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of companion animals by finding them loving forever homes. The Rescue Crew was established specifically to fill a need in the local Twin Cities metro area to help shelter animals facing imminent risk of euthanasia without rescue support.

OUR MISSION: We are here to help save the lives of companion animals in need. Those who are homeless; the abused or abandoned; the neglected and unloved, and to show them human compassion and kindness, ultimately helping them become valued family members in a loving home.

OUR VISION: We envision the day where every adoptable animal has the opportunity of finding a responsible, loving home. A world where pets are no longer mistreated, abused or abandoned.
