My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wally (Photos 3/12/2024)
Wally is a gorgeous 1-1/2 year old male Hound (Possibly Pointer) mix who was left at the HSOV during the overnight hours on February 18, 2024 and was brought inside the shelter by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff. Wally was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

Wally has a dark brown/brindle-and-white short smooth coat, brown spotting on his legs and throughout his coat, and a long tail. Wally has the appearance of wearing mis-matched knee socks on his front legs. His left leg is white with brown spotting and his right leg is dark brown/brindle with a white paw.

This good-looking young man has an adorable symmetrically-marked brindle face with a white stripe on his forehead, expressive dark brown eyes, a black button nose, a dusting of white on his long slender muzzle, and large floppy ears. Wally has the cutest scruffy 'chin whiskers'.

Wally was a frightened young man for the first several weeks in our shelter, and it took him awhile to warm up to our HSOV Kennel Techs before he realized that they were his new best friends who loved him unconditionally.

We were thrilled when Wally accompanied Kennel Tech Emily Beaver for these outdoor photos on March 12th and that potential adopters are able to see just how handsome he really is. Wally has gained his self-confidence, and we were very proud of 'our boy' when we watched him holding his head up high and smiling for the camera. Wally no longer resembles that frightened boy we met nearly a month ago who was huddled up in his kennel with his head held low and trying his best to refrain from making eye contact .. We are proud of Wally AND the HSOV Kennel Techs/Staff who were there to help Wally overcome his fears so that his sweet personality would become more apparent.

Wally weighs approximately 45-50 lbs. He didn't appear to have had any walking-on-a-leash experience when we first met him, but Wally is an intelligent boy who quickly mastered that new skill thanks to our awesome, compassionate HSOV Kennel Techs.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Wally was held for three days but nobody called or came looking for this handsome boy.

Wally will be neutered in the near future and will be ready to find the best home ever where he will be loved and spoiled to his heart's content.

Wally could also be fostered with an approved HSOV Foster/Adoption Application.
