My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It takes a long time for a soul to become this sweet.” Meet Cotton a mature, lovely female Great Pyrenees who was born in November of 2013. Cotton and her sibling Jezebel came to the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society after their owner became ill and surrendered them to a small animal shelter in Texas. Their owner loved them and realized she could no longer care for them. It’s not unusual for older dogs to lose their homes having nothing to do with their behavior or temperament, but more due to the fact that their owner’s circumstances have changed. These dogs are worthy of a home just as much as puppies and make charming, trained companions.

Cotton is a gentle sweetheart and long on life skills - gets along with dogs, likes considerate kids and enjoys meeting new people. Cotton is a bit plump, we blame it on the Covid 19 quarantine, after all who hasn’t gained a few pounds? She walks easily on a leash and would benefit from daily walks. Having a resident canine to play with in a secured fenced yard would help get her to a healthy weight.

She is intelligent, respectful and eager to please her person. Cotton likes to sleep in and nap throughout the day.  She will lean on you to be rubbed and she will gently give you the pyr paw to be scratched and petted.

A semi active family who is familiar with this breed, with dog friendly kids and a resident dog (near her age and size) would best suit Cotton. She doesn’t ask for much just a safe place with people that will love her for the rest of her years and in return she’ll be your devoted, lovable snuggle companion. If you have room in your home and heart for this sweet soul, please complete an application today.
