My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Thicket
Nickname: Thicket the Ticket. Sweetheart. Spicket.
Breed: Havanese? Maltese? Terrier mix?
Age: ~ 2 years
Sex: Female
Weight: 12 pounds
Before OMD: Found in the woods, brought to the shelter, and was immediately stressed out by the busy kennel - they reached out to us and we were lucky enough to have an open foster for her.
Key descriptors: Cute. Sweet. Silly. Strong. Adventurous. Entertaining. Active. Curious. Playful. Bouncy. Energetic. Inquisitive. Involved. Fearless.
Energy level: Medium-high. She’s a busy body and always on the move. Walks could always stand to be a little longer in her opinion.
Affection level: She’s an independent girl, but doesn’t shy away from a good snuggle from time to time.
Moonlights as: Neighbourhood watch captain - you, or a squirrel, or a leaf… are not getting by the window unnoticed.
What we love: How she reaches out her front legs to say hello to you. When she dramatically flops down and rolls over to show her belly.
What she loves: The great outdoors; she never wants to come inside.
What this means for you: No couch potatoes! If you’re looking for a quiet lap dog she’s not the gal for you.
Could be funny/could be annoying: She’s a howler when things get exciting.
Caught in the act: It’s rumoured she’s been spotted on top of the coffee table and counters once or twice.
What she knows: Sit. Come.
What she’s working on: Walking nicely on the leash - she may be little but she’s a puller. Finding her indoor voice - girl’s got a set of lungs on her, which may not be best suited for apartments.
Dogs: Sure! Thicket currently lives with her foster brother…okay, foster boyfriend, and they’re pals. She can get a bit snappy and redirects towards her foster boyfriend when overstimulated (isn’t this the case in every relationship?), but redirects easily.
Kids: Sure, dog-savvy kids should be fine! She does not currently live with kids, but seems to be fine with some chaos.
Cats: Maybe if the cat is super dog-savvy - we suspect she’ll chase and need a fair amount of correcting.
House-trained: She’s 75% of the way there!
Crate-trained: Definitely not, but has proven to be well behaved when left alone.

Thicket is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of Connecticut and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org
