My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Rex,

Male
Bullmastiff Mix
Approx. 3 years old

Here's a bit of insight into my background and personality: Don't let my name or appearance scare you, I'm a bit of a goofball, a fun-loving, happy all the time, glass half full kind of guy. I'm looking for my forever home with someone who loves to play, laugh, have a good time and a sense of humor! I'm a dog on a mission to please you!

My reactions to:

Cats - I can be reactive around cats and would do best in a home without them.
Dogs - I can be anxious, nervous and potentially reactive around dog and would benefit in a home where I can be the only canine
Meeting new people - I enjoy meeting new people and show no behavioural concerns
Children - I don't have much experience around children. If there are children in the home I'd prefer they're 12-14+
Obedience training - I would benefit from more Obedience training though have really improved during my time at the shelter
Leash walking - I've improved with my leash walking though still need some work with containing my excitement
Car rides - unknown at this time
Crates/My kennel - I don't hate my crate/kennel though I'd much rather prefer being out and playing with you
House trained - I do my best to hold my business until I am able to relieve myself outside
Stressful situations - Depends on situation
Playtime - I love playtime! My favourite thing to do is running around and play with plush/squeaky toys!

Additional adoption info

All pets available for adoption through the Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and will have received a parasite preventative or treatment. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs and $175 for cats plus tax. If applicable, the purchase of a pet license will be required at the time of adoption.

Before considering pet adoption, potential pet parents are encouraged to do their own research on the type of pet that they are interested in adopting. Different breeds, for example, can have very different exercise needs or may be prone to certain genetic conditions. It is also a good idea to speak with your local veterinarian to gain insight about the type of pet you are considering adopting and the initial and yearly animal care costs involved with pet ownership.

All adoptions require an application and an in person or phone consultation prior to be being approved.

More about this shelter

The Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre is a municipally-owned animal shelter located in the Town of Georgina, Ontario. With a team of dedicated professionals, the shelter provides animal care to vulnerable animals in need.

Services Include:

Temporary housing for stray/vulnerable owned pets
Reuniting lost pets with their owners
Pet rehoming
Pet adoptions
Pet licensing

Pet licenses aid in the fast return of a lost pet to its owner. They provide an immediate visual clue to anyone who finds the pet, which often results in the pet not having to be brought into an animal shelter.

Pet licensing services are provided on behalf of Georgina, East Gwillimbury, Aurora and Newmarket.
