My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER/FOSTER TO ADOPT NEEDED

Kip is a great dog! He will be 3 years old in June. He is an Akbash
He's very social, loves people! He has been with his owner since he was a 5-month old puppy with boundless energy. He has grown into a 90 lb. affectionate beauty with boundless energy!
Kip has great markings, a beautiful coat, is well fed and is a very strong, healthy dog.
He does like to jump up and greet everyone, doesn't realize his size (around 90 lbs.) and his manners are rough.
He's a good watchdog, He barks to let me know when someone is at the door or in the yard.
He loves to play and run and cannot be off leash so a fenced in yard is required.
He was crate trained early, but I don't use the crate very often now. However, it's a safe zone for him if he wants it, so the door is always open.
He is completely free to have the run of the house 24 hours a day when I'm home, and when I'm out for a couple of hours. He has never done his business in the house.
He is trained to go to the door and bark when he needs to go out.
He loves to cuddle on the couch, and especially loves it when I say "upstairs" because that means we go upstairs while I do chores or laundry, he takes a nap on the bed or he chews on one of his many toys. He loves a big bed to sprawl out on.
He is not a destroyer, but does chew his toys.
He walks sedately on a lead, no pulling or jumping.
He does need a fenced in yard. He's never been loose to run freely.
He loves to be petted and his ears and belly scratched, he will nudge your hand with his nose as you walk alongside him in the house or on a lead.
He has never been around small children, so can't attest to how he would do. HIs size and jumping habit might not be good for younger children.
He gets along with other dogs in small groups, but gets overwhelmed by "kennel" dog groupings. He does best with dogs of his own size so no little dogs please.

More about this rescue

Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue was born out of my love for small dogs and desire to help those in need, and in memory of the loss of a dear family member. Dealing frequently with small breed puppies and retired breeder moms, we strive to find homes that are aware of the commitment to raising a small breed dog and to the patience needed in socializing and housebreaking a retired breeder mom who has no idea what life in a home is all about. We are foster home based and are always looking for new foster homes to help us continue our love of rescuing dogs in need. We are happy to assist in owner surrender placements, especially those in need of surrendering their small dogs due to financial hardships, loss of a loved one, or dog owner entering assisted living facilities or nursing homes. We pride ourselves with a thorough search for that perfect home for a dog in need and follow up with phone calls to ensure things are going well. Tiny Paws will take back an adopted dog should the need arise within a reasonable notice and an available foster home has an open spot. Our goal is to someday own a building to house even more canine companions in need. We look forward to helping you find your family pet.
