Greetings from Gorgeous Gretel. I’m a sweet and loving girl in search of a home of my own with a patient person/family to help build my confidence and allow me to become a super star. Because here’s the thing. Although not much is known about my background, other than I was a stray residing in an overcrowded Texas facility before CARE rescued me, my life on the streets was definitely a scary time. As a result, despite my natural calm and mellow demeanor, I can get excited about things that move outside —bikes, strollers, and other things on wheels. Please understand--I just don't understand why they are going so fast but I’ll pull hard on the leash and bark when something makes me nervous. My friends at the shelter are working with me on loose-leash walking, and I’m improving. Nonetheless, I’ll need a strong handler and training classes to help me become relaxed and comfortable in all settings.  Added note, I love to walk with other dogs and a rural setting is my wish in life.

Now here’s the good stuff. I adore people and like to sit by their feet and get lots of hugs and pets. I get along great with other pooches, and it would be terrific to share my life with a canine sibling.  I’m very smart and already know a number of basic commands. I’m good at entertaining myself with toys, in particular peanut butter-filled Kongs, and am a whiz at solving every food puzzle. Finally, I’m nearly 100% when it comes to potty training, and you’ll never have to ask me twice to go in my crate, as I consider it my den. I do ask for a fenced in yard as I have energy to run around for a while and play.

The CARE staff and volunteers tell me I am the perfect pup and adorable.  I just need some basic training, another dog that loves my energy and playtime.  Do I sound like the pup you’ve been waiting for? Then please fill out an adoption application right away, so that we can meet and begin our amazing adventure together!

I have been spayed and microchipped and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-adoption-survey

Love and licks,

Gretel

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. This includes a Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) test for cats, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, deworming and Spay/Neuter. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
