My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FERN

Available for Foster

We are currently looking for a month long foster!

Hello everyone! I'm Fern, charming canine observer with a heart as big as my curious eyes. Although my journey started as a stray, I was fortunate enough to be picked up by Chicago Animal Care and Control. Then…I clearly won the hearts of the C.A.R.E. Kennel Captain team with my joyful, goofy smile.

I am a delightful girl who finds pure joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether perched on a bench, a cozy couch, or even a wall, my favorite pastime is watching the world unfold before me.

True to my unique personality, I prefer leisurely strolls, especially when accompanied by a trusted human companion. However, my true love lies in cozying up near the kitchen counter, eagerly awaiting any opportunity for a tasty treat! Kindness, respect and treats are the key to my heart.

Beyond my endearing qualities, some of my favorite pastimes include:  indulging in a relaxing bath, gleefully pulling apart soft toys (without swallowing, of course!), helping to clean any dish or container in sight, and going on thrilling adventures (like car rides or Boslys).

In my ideal home, tranquility reigns supreme. I would thrive as your one and only furry companion in a quiet atmosphere where I can fully unwind. I have learned a lot in my time with C.A.R.E…. I know many tricks and want to show you. I need a forever human who will keep my education going.

So, if you're seeking a loyal companion who delights in life's small wonders and brings joy wherever she goes, look no further than me! With my infectious spirit and heartwarming  personality, I would hope to steal your heart from the moment you meet me.

I have been spayed and microchipped and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out a foster survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-foster-survey

Love and licks,

Fern

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
