My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Teddy, a gentle soul with a heart of gold...just waiting to be discovered!

A two year old, Golden Retriever Mix, Teddy has a smile as big as Texas and he can't wait to share in all the joys of life with you!  Teddy embodies what the plight of a rescue dog is all about.  When Teddy first arrived to the rescue, he was prone to bouts of uncertainty and some fearfulness.  But this sweet boy has reinforced for all that have (now) met him, how a previously unwanted animal can flourish into a delightful companion with patience and love!  Teddy adores human company, loving to cozy up to his favorite people. Teddy also generally enjoys the company of other dogs (particularly his friend, Susi).  When faced with confrontation from other dogs during play group, but he is easily redirected with gentle, verbal corrections.

Through consistent training and positive reinforcement, Teddy is now fully crate trained and can now be comfortably crated (in the event his new family works outside the home) for reasonable periods, including overnights, without any issues.  Teddy has excelled in basic obedience training, having learned basic commands and wonderful leash manners.  He often shows his soft underbelly through his eagerness to please; positive reinforcement is really all that this boy needs to show you how smart he is and is the key to his continued growth (Teddy can get his feelings hurt with stern verbal correction)!

Teddy's ideal home is one filled with love and affection, where he can bask in human interaction and cuddles. He has shown good behavior around small(er) children, enjoying gentle play.  A person or family. willing to make ample time to provide him attention and postive reinforcement, will undoubtedly bring Teddy and those in his new home, boundless joy!

Teddy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and has recently completed heartworm treatment.  Teddy is now good as new and ready to find his forever home!
