On March 24th, Barefoot Bella was entrusted to us through our Final Wish Program. Her mom passed away 2 years ago, and her dad passed away in February. She is 20 years old.
Fortunately, soon after she arrived, Barefoot Bella was scooped up for a two-week Frosted Fling. She received lots of extra love and care in the comforts of a home, while we learned a lot about her. Bella's Fling Mom shares:
"As Bella started to come out of her shell, and we got the cutest nub wags. She loves being outside, as you can tell from her bunny hops (see video) which she does after every potty walk. Bella is totally unfazed by our dogs, and she doesn't mind them saying hi and sniffing.
She is a great eater and would finish her whole meal once she got started, she does have a sensitive stomach and so while she loves lick mats and treats she does better on a bland diet. She ate both the healthy cuisine chicken wet food and the fresh pet chicken diet.
Bella would thrive best in a low energy household with a good routine. She is so easy to take care of, and all she needs a gentle home. Making her space smaller helped her settle and not get confused. And music, she really seemed at ease if we had some light music playing.
A comfy bed is a must as she gets a lot of sleep and that was her favorite place for a nap. She also enjoys snoozing on the couch if you help her on and off. We didn't hear one bark her entire stay.
Bella is super tolerant of all people and towards the end of our fling she really did start to open up more with affection. We would get nub wags, and she would chase our dog around. She likes being pet on her head and face the most, she does startle easy and flinch if you reach out on her body. She got a lot better at being held and much less squirmy she just needs some patience when handling her so she can feel safe."
We really enjoyed having Bella at our house, and we cannot express enough how simple it is to take care of her. We are hoping someone with a big heart will step up for Bella."
Barefoot Bella currently lives in a foster home but is still on the lookout for a family of her own. Might it be you?
