My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member.

Why this pet is the one for you:
This is MB! MB is a beautiful red-eared slider who is ready to make a splash in her new pond! Red-eared sliders are an invasive species in California, and should go to prepared homes where they can live out their days in comfort, without being able to run (er, slowly walk) away. Although sliders can live in huge (100+ gallon) indoor aquariums, their ideal living situation is an outdoor pond with room to swim, bask, and explore. Mb's pond should be established and bioactive, or equipped with a filter to keep her pool clean! Red-eared sliders live long lives (20+ years), so Mb needs someone to provide for her in the long term. Mb enjoys turtle pellets, and will also need to be supplemented with a species-specific omnivorous diet. Mb can't wait to bask in the sun in her new home! If you think Mb is the one for you, ask about her today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
