My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Galileo was brought in by a community member.

Why this pet is the one for you:
This is Galileo! Galileo is a beautiful red-eared slider who is ready and waiting to make a splash in their new pond! Red-eared sliders are incredible pets for dedicated folks who are in for a 20+ year commitment. These aquatic turtles require an indoor or outdoor pond with plenty of space to swim carefree, lovely basking spots to sun (or UVB light) in, and some dirt to dig around in! Our Adoption team will go over more details for their care, but due to their special care needs, we do recommend doing research and having your turtle-safe pond ready prior to adopting. More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
