My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SELENA, means "The Moon" and this adorable 4 month old puppy has a personality as bright as her name suggests. Though she has mixed breed lineage, her intelligence and appearance suggests she likely has some Labrador Retriever in her genes.
When you first meet Selena, she may come across as a bit shy but she simply needs a bit of time to warm up to new people and places. Once Selena feels comfortable, her playful and affectionate nature shines through. Despite her young age, Selena appears to be highly trainable and eager to please. During a brief session with a dog trainer, Selena showed great promise that she can master leash walking and other behaviors with continued positive reinforcement training. Her gentle demeanor is a testament to her resilience, having overcome an unknown rough start... Selena loves people... and treats. She is gentle and friendly and would be an ideal family dog, Selena will shower her new owners with puppy kisses and devotion. Her sweet face and wiggly behind reflect her enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures.
Just like the moon she was named for, Selena will brighten even the darkest of days and nights. She is sure to bring joy and love into the life of her lucky new family. Meeting her is to fall "over the moon" in love with her!

More about this shelter

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
