Meet Egg Roll!
This pretty pup arrived at HSoP as a stray and was never claimed by an owner. Now she's on the hunt for a loving home of her own. We estimate Egg Roll to be around 1 year old, and she's some type of pit bull mix.
We aren't sure what Egg Roll's history looks like, but it doesn't appear she's had much training. She has a habit of jumping up toward people, which would likely be easier to correct outside of the shelter environment. Egg Roll has quickly learned to sit on command, both with and without treats. Food works as a great motivator for her!
One thing that Egg Roll struggles with is biting or being "mouthy". This is a behavior she tends to show mostly around new people. She doesn't mean to hurt when she does this. It tends to happen when she's excited and struggling to contain herself. She responds well to a firm "no" when acting unfavorably. Egg Roll usually needs about 5-10 minutes of playing or running around to get her energy out, and then she turns into a total softy who's just eager to learn and be loved on.
For this reason, Egg Roll would do best in a home with owners who have the time and energy for training. She's a really good girl, it will just take some consistent lessons to help her understand the manners that we expect to see.
Since she came in as a stray, we aren't sure how Egg Roll might do around cats or other dogs. She'll be required to meet all dogs in the home prior to adoption, and we offer a seven-day foster period with each adoption to ensure a good fit for the whole family.
