My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rita is a special lady looking for a special home. Could that be yours?? Rita was originally adopted from another shelter and lived in a home for about six months. She was housebroken and is very smart girl who knows commands for sit, stay, no, come, lay down, paw, kennel, drop it, roll over, outside, high five and even double high five! Her former people said that she is a very good dog but that their home is not the right fit for her.

Rita spent some time in a foster home as well and was a quiet houseguest who was curious but well- behaved with cats, did well with the resident dog, and was described as affectionate, athletic, and goofy. Rita needs time to feel safe with new people, so needs a family who is respectful of her space as she settles in and one who will take things slowly.

“Rita shows a lot of potential to be a great dog- she just needs someone willing to invest time into teaching her. She would do best in a calm environment where she can build confidence.”

Rita would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit and may do best in a home without kiddos. Please ask about Rita today!
