Foster notes: He is a very good house guest and after being with us for about a week now, the following is what he would love to have: big back yard to play zoomies; another dog to pay with and a big window to watch the world go by where it is warm; big bed to sleep in with my humans and toys to play with. He loves to be on your lap if you sit down anywhere!! (bathroom) He is learning to sit for his dinner not for long, but he tries. Learning the leash thing. Once he gets out of the house and pees, then slows down and walks nicely on the leash, but as you know the nose will get him into trouble.
He helps with the dishes; he makes sure that the dishes in the dishwasher are clean before you run the machine and the floor if you drop anything he is right there to help. He has mastered the doggie door, but you still need to keep an eye on him if you go out the front door. He is great with cats after the first smell and the scratch on the nose. Now they sleep together on the bed. He is a very lovable dog and would do great with a family that would keep him busy.

All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on their shots (rabies, distemper and parvo, bordetella), are heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative, micro-chipped and de-wormed.

We do not have a centralized location, but you can visit our website to find out when and where we hold our adoption events (usually twice a month). We also take part in special fairs and events. You can come and meet with some of our dogs then.

Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland is dedicated to helping all beagles in need. Most of the dogs that come into the rescue are hunter rejects, either because they do not want to hunt, or because they are too old or simply ill. Our goal is to rehabilitate these wonderful companion dogs and place them in forever loving homes. We are a network of foster homes and rely solely on the dedication of volunteers.
