My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Just Joe (lovingly known by volunteers as Angel Nugget Sunshine Bebe) is such a sweet, laid back, and well-behaved boy. We hope this angelic boy finds the most loving inside home where he'll be loved for the rest of his life!

Just Joe recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say!

"Just Joe is SUCH a HUNK!

This dog was my favorite when he was at the shelter a year ago and he's my favorite now that he's back (found as a stray).

He is a big ole giant potato who turns into mashed potatoes the second he gets affection. Just Joe deserves the BEST home where he can live INSIDE for the rest of his life.

His body makes it clear that he's been an outside dog for the majority of his 7 years on Earth. He has sours and calluses on his limbs and backside, but he STILL manages to turn heads with his handsomeness.

Things that make Just Joe the best dang dog there is:

Housetrained. He knows where to do his business.

Affectionate. This boy LOVES and CRAVES human attention. At a GCAS therapy event today, he walked up to every person with eyes that said "Hi, did you order some serotonin today? I gots some!" He'd lean in and just melt.

Lower energy. He'll waddle after a ball a few times but he's happy to just cuddle, sploot, or sunbathe.

Good on leash. He will occasionally pull if he smells good stuff or if he is done walking, he may just stop in his tracks. However, he keeps an overall loose leash.

Rides well in the car. Though you have to pick up his big behind to get in it (seriously, he gives no assistance), he lays down or watches out the window.

Takes treats ever so gently.

He has THE most perfect ears in existence.

Professional bath taker. Just Joe readily accepts his bubble baths. He stands still and let's you knock it out. Quite frankly, I think he's appreciative to get all the dirt and grime from living outside washed off his sweet body.

He met a couple of dogs while out today and did well! He's more nonchalant/indifferent, which I personally prefer.

No pesky cats. This guy isn't aggressive, but will chase them.

7 years
56ish lbs
Neutered and ready to go home!

Just Joe deserves a soft place to land with a family who loves him and cherishes him for the incredibly loving, loyal, gentle dog he is. I hope someone sees that and comes to adopt him soon."

As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.

To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
