My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bella Faith ACCT-A-159178 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space for incoming dogs, and length of stay. Bella Faith must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER, ADOPTER, or FOSTER by Monday, April 22nd at 10 A.M. Should Bella Faith's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Bella Faith came to ACCT after her owner was made to surrender her by the landlord. But her owner had nothing but good things to say about her, and we have no idea why she's still here! Bella Faith is the total package: reportedly good with dogs, cats and kids!

Since being here, Bella Faith has been fearful, but she quickly becomes her spritely self when she's outside, playing with other dogs:

3/30 Took Bella Faith out with a volunteer group, she is so sweet but very fearful at this time. She was lying down in the middle of her kennel, looked at me with soft wide eyes and slowly got up coming to the front. She sniffed my hand and sat at the front as I opened the door a crack. She did try to push out gently a couple of times, but then backed up and let me leash her. She was nervous in the kennels, scrambling low to the ground and pulling away from me on leash. When outside she explored the play yard, sticking low to the ground with a tucked tail, displacement sniffing and avoiding us. With time she untucked her tail but still kept it low, and kept her body low. She would occasionally come over with lowered wiggles and low wags, and gently approach for pets, but soon would go off and sniff again. I pet her in short bursts but kept it pretty minimal as she wasn't regularly soliciting attention. She did perk up a bit greeting another dog through the play yard fence and might benefit from hanging out with another pup! When we went back to the kennels she did scramble away and pancake when going back in. Another handler came and looped her belly to help get back in.

While Bella Faith is initially shy, she also displays submissive behavior, and is growing resistant to return to kennel, resulting in staff having to carry her.

3/30 I crouched down and called her over and she came running up with a loose, wiggly body, soft eyes, and big open happy mouth. She curled up under me and accepted some pets and love. When I wasn't petting her Bella was splooted out across the floor, enjoying the cool floor on her belly. If I walked toward her standing up too quickly she would flatten herself to the ground very submissively. She's submissive and shy, but oh so sweet. Bella allowed all over handling with no issues.

Her previous owners said they thought Bella Faith would be a good family dog. We would like her to leave with someone that can give her decompression time, and make her next chapter a great one.

ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.

If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/

Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately.

Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat.

Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent

All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313
