Looking for a good coach so he can be the best "team player ever!
Play, play and more play - that's what Fred is best at! He is a happy boy who is looking for a dedicated owner committed to regular obedience training and teaching him consistency and how to be a family dog. He seems to have been a cast away in his previous life, and forgotten about in a backyard or who knows. He did not have had much attention and guidance in how to be man's best friend but has extreme potential, is young, and very loving.
Until he was in our safe haven it seems he had never been leashed before, so a fenced in yard would be best for this guy. He is very avoidant of the leash, is not scared of it but definitely hard to get a leash on. That being said once he is on the leash and outside he actually walks very well. We are working with Fred on leashing, however his new family will need to continue to work with Fred.
He is extremely smart, and is a quick learner. He will make a wonderful addition to any family who has the ability and commitment to teach him what love and being part of a real family can be like. Someone willing to put in the work to create the relationship of a lifetime. Someone equally as special as he is- he's a true best friend, with enchanting qualities, fierce loyalty, and he deserves nothing less in return.
Fred is not in the main public section of the shelter, so be sure to ask for him by name if you come to visit him!
