Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chai is around 40lbs of a nose to the ground, energetic, loves to explore Hound Mix girl. She is playful, funny and will sometimes entertain herself BUT most times she just needs to know you are by her side.

At first new things are a bit scary but given a "minute" she does warm up, While she was photo bombed by Cadence, she might be good with other dogs BUT we always suggest a meet and greet just to be sure. Cats and kids are unknown BUT we are very willing to learn with you.

Chai is a beautiful girl hoping you see that too - there is a lot of personality in those ears - . If she is not already spayed, she will be as part of her adoption. She might be around a year old, her adoption fee is $120.00 cash only please.

We encourage the whole family to come and meet the potential new family member. We also highly encourage and may require any current dogs in the household come for a meet and greet.

Our hours are Friday through Tuesday, 10am to 3pm each day. Wednesdays 10am to 1pm. Closed Thursdays and most major holidays.

More about this shelter

The Geauga County Dog Shelter takes in stray dogs throughout Geauga County. By law we have to hold a dog three business days - or 72 hrs - before we are able to adopt them into new loving homes.

Every dog is vaccinated, heart worm tested, and spayed/neutered. All adoptions are on a first come, first to adopt basis. Adoption fees range from $120.00-$200.00. We accept cash only please.

This Shelter is not your typical shelter. This Shelter has the most amazing staff, volunteers and community. This Shelter truly gets to know each and every Visitor.

Excited is an understatement with every adoption. It jumps up and down and even cries a little when watching a former Visitor take that ride home.

We do a whole lot with very little. If you would like to know what special is, please come meet us during adoption hours. We would love to show you around.
