Emmitt is the sweetest and most lovable boy. He wants to be wherever the action is even if the “action” is just quietly sitting on the couch. He’s old enough to act like a mature guy but young enough that the puppy’s energy is still there when it’s play time.
He’s very good with other dogs in the house and he welcomes any human visitors by immediately laying on them. Emmitt wants pets from everyone around him, but he’ll grumble a little if you touch his paws.
He does get a bit excited at mealtime so if there are other dogs, he needs to eat separately otherwise he will try to steal their food when his is gone. He isn’t aggressive about it, just judgmental of slow eaters.
He’s house trained, crate trained, and the more comfortable he gets the more tricks he admits to knowing. He’s INCREDIBLY smart and VERY food motivated and willing to learn. He’s pretty good on the leash. He doesn’t like it when anyone walks by without saying hi to him, but he’s working on that. He’s good at adapting to new routines and takes his neighborhood watch role quite seriously.

CRNE Adoption Application:

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Emmitt’s adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter, then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.

Additional adoption info
We have a written application followed by a phone interview. If the applicant is approved past this point then we check 2 personal references as well as their vet reference. If they rent we speak with their landlord as well. If all is well at this point then we do a home check. The final step is a meet and greet where the adopter and the household, including dogs travel to meet the new adoptive dog. If all goes well they can adopt. There is an adoption contract and the adoption fee ranges between $200-400 depending on the fees that we put into the particular dog.

We support local "ma & pa" business before the big box chains since many of us come from some communities. We also attended fairs and "meet & greet" events.
