Adoption steps
- Submit Application
- For DOG Adoptions, please submit your app online at PetAdoptionFund.org *** For CAT Adoptions, please call us at (818) 340.1186.
- Approve Application
- If your application is approved for adoption, you will then be contacted to set up a meet & greet with the pet.
- Meet the Pet
- Bring the entire family, including your current dog (altered dogs only) to insure compatibility.
- Sign Adoption Contract
- If you find a great match, an adoption contract will need to be signed, pending home visit (for dog adoptions only.)
- Home Check
- We visit the home to insure that the environment is safe for the new pet.
- Pay Fee
- The adoption fee will be discussed at the time of the meet and greet, and it's tax deductible.
- Take the Pet Home
- Once the home check is approved and the adoption fee is paid, your new pet will be bathed and ready to go, wearing a collar and PAF tag.

Pet Adoption Fund (PAF) is an all breed, 501(c)(3), Non-Profit, No-Kill Dog & Cat rescue and adoption center, founded in 1983. The organization and its private shelter facility is located in the city of Canoga Park, Los Angeles County, CA. The organization is staffed primarily by volunteers, and exists solely on donations. The mission is to rescue, shelter, and find loving permanent homes for the many wonderful, yet previously abandoned, neglected, abused companion animals. Since its inception in 1983, the organization has cared for, rehabilitated, and found responsible and happy homes for the thousands of pets who have come through its doors.
