My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our handsome boy, Action, has real star power! This debonair fellow would charm any adopter. He joined us in late 2020 during the height of the COVID Lockdown. His family left him at NYCACC at a time of increased euthanasias. Apparently, they no longer had time for him.

Action seemed to fare pretty well in the shelter setting, but he did display some understandable fearful behavior as he adjusted to the shelter process.

In a short time, Action caught the shelter kennel cough and was relegated to the euthanasia list. We are happy that our shelter contacts rerouted him to our rescue.

Action has made great progress here and has been a popular playmate in our small dog play yard. He appears to be a Jack Russell Terrier with perhaps a smidge of Rat Terrier. He is a small, muscular dog who weighs 20 pounds. Five years old, he is an adult and well past the puppy mayhem stage.

We think that Action would most enjoy a quiet lifestyle with an adult single or couple, who love lap dog companionship. He tends to steer clear of chaos, and would not be a good fit for a busy family bursting with kids. He is an active dog, and loves to play, but he would thrive with a few brisk leash walks each day. Action could easily join a multi-dog home with one or two other laid back dogs and with proper introduction and supervision.

Action has good house manners, and is house trained, crate and trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home.

Action is in excellent health, and is at a lean body weight. He is neutered, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. He is dewormed, and microchipped,

Additional adoption info

When we receive your completed application we will check your references, including your veterinarian, and then call you to discuss your situation and requirements.. If you are approved for adoption, we can then discuss with you which of the dogs might fit best into your life. We will either arrange for you to visit the dog in its foster home, by appointment, or transport the dog to your home.

To help cover the veterinary expenses of our foster Eskies and to support our rescue effort, Eskies Online will charge you an adoption fee of $350.00. We do not sell dogs. We charge a flat fee--whether the Eskie is a puppy or an older dog; whether it came to us with minimal veterinary needs or requiring major medical care; whether the Eskie makes a short or a long stay in our foster system.

More about this rescue

Eskies Online is a 501(c)(3) Multibreed rescue group that serves unwanted American Eskimos and other dogs in need and finds qualified, permanent, adoptive homes for them. In the foster home environment, we are able to evaluate the dog's temperament and behavior patterns away from the stress of shelter life. Eskies Online is funded entirely through adoption fees, donations and the generosity our volunteers.
