My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Got mice? You'll be happy to know we have several Rodent Control Technicians looking for work! They will work hard to keep the rodents away and all they will ask for is food, water, and a dry place to sleep! Currently, we have some cats that could qualify as either in-home, shy cats, or barn buddies.

All 5 of the black and white guys are from the same home. The home had almost 30 cats!! Big Guy and Little Guy will allow pets sometimes, but we have not been able to touch the other 3. They are all young and between 8 months and 3 years old. Unfortunately, we are having some litter box issues in their room and do not know if it is one or a few of them. They are occupying a whole room right now and we really need that space for other cats so the sooner we can get them into a barn type home the better! These guys need to go in groups of 2, 3 or 5, so they have some companionship and someone to cuddle with in the winter months!

Wynn and Reese are 6 months old and have been here since December waiting for warmer weather so they can finally have the freedom a barn type home will offer them. They were very spicy on arrival and have not warmed up to people. They have to go together and could go with a pair of the cats above if you would like more than 2 mousers.

With warmer weather right around the corner, they will be able to go to their new barns, garages or whatever safe space you have soon!! To adopt a pair or more, visit our website spfldhumane.org, and fill out a Barn Buddy Application.

Adoption Fees: $40 each

All the barn buddies have been fixed, UTD on rabies and distemper. They are FIV/FeLV negative.

More about this shelter

We're a small shelter in Vermont covering 11 towns in Windsor County. We have a small but very dedicated staff, and an active volunteer program. We have been rescuing cats and dogs since our inception in 1941, when a wonderful woman turned her barn into a shelter. Since then we've grown quite a bit and have recently redone our entire kennel area - we have sun tubes for natural light, radiant heat in the floors, a music program and an aromatherapy program. All through the generous donations of the public. Our cats live comfortably in community cat rooms where they are free to roam and climb and play - one cat room even has a fully fenced outdoor enclosure. We have acres of field for dog walking, and a small agility course set up in an outdoor kennel. We have a large puppy room, and a larger still puppy play area outside.
