My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Yippee, my name is Rocky and I am a good ol' boy from Alabama. I am a friendly guy who has a fair amount of energy so I am hoping for an active family who likes to have a good time. I am a smart lad and I would love to take some classes with you; that would not only give me a job to do but it would be a fabulous bonding experience. Truth be told, I could use some practice in the manners department. When I meet someone or greet a friend of mine, I get so happy and excited that I jump all over them; apparently it would be more proper if I kept four on the floor. I also need some practice accepting rewards a bit more gently; I tend to be a tad grabby with yummy morsels. The folks at the shelter have been working on some exercises with me to help me slow down when accepting treats and stay calm and polite before being rewarded. An obedience class would be lovely because I would love to be your BFF and constant companion and I know exquisite manners would allow me to be welcome wherever we go. It would also be wonderful to get involved in activities that would help burn some energy like agility, nose work, rally or focus, touch or tricks training. It has been a blast to participate in the play groups at the shelter while I wait for my forever family to discover me; a good romp with other pooches is always a jolly good time. I enjoy playing with humans too and have great fun with all the enrichment I have been doing; I believe it is very important to keep my brain busy. Although I am a high-octane boy who likes to run around and play, I enjoy snuggle time too. I am quite a lovebug and since I weigh only 36 pounds, I think I might fit nicely on your lap. I think we could have a magnificent life together filled with laughter, fun and loads of love. Stop by to meet me in person and discover my charm and dynamic personality for yourself.

Additional adoption info

Visit the shelter. We have an application that takes about 15 minutes to fill out once you have found a pet you like. You call back the next day which gives us time to review the application and gives you 24 hours to think about your decision to adopt.
