My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mimi embodies the quintessence of feline grace and affection, a senior lady cat whose years have only deepened her capacity for love. Her demeanor is a gentle whisper in a world that often roars, offering solace to those fortunate enough to cross her path. With each purr and gentle nudge, Mimi communicates a simple yet profound truth: the essence of her being is to love and be loved. Her sweet nature is a testament to the enduring power of affection, serving as a reminder that, in the end, the most fulfilling connections are those built on kindness and mutual care. Mimi's presence is a soft but constant reminder of the beauty of aging gracefully, retaining a heart open to giving and receiving love in its purest form.

More about this shelter

Concern over a large, and ever increasing, population of homeless dogs and cats, instigated the opening of the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the shelter by providing volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
