My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cornelius, aka Corndog, is a 1 year and 4 month old Terrier Mix weighing 30 pounds. He came to the shelter as a stray, was recently adopted and returned at no fault of his as his owner was highly allergic to him. We were able to learn a lot about him while he was in a home. Cornelius is a very energetic, spunky dog, playful and puppy like. He loves toys and is a destructive chewer with his stuffies and squeaking toys, will bring the toy to you to initiate playtime-fetch, tug, and chase (let him chase you)! He loves people and won't be a good guard dog, other than to let you know someone is there, otherwise he does not bark much. Has separation anxiety, always needs to be near his person, will follow you or try to lead, can be a tripping hazard. He's a fast learner, knows commands sit, stay, laydown, shake, wait, come here, down, treat, potty, let go, no bite, stop, crate, no lick, drop it, leave it, no jump, & hugs. Along with being a tripping hazard, he jumps to greet people (learning down, no jump, sit). He's a licker!!! Will lick everything, faces, hands, feet - learning No lick. Needs work on leash training, harness needed as he pulls, will also refuse to move (stubborn). When excited he will mouth, grab your hand, learning no bite. He loves kids, belly-rubs and being in your lap. Gives hugs. Treat motivated. Can be skittish around sudden movements & rustling sounds. He plays rough with other dogs, needs to be the dominant one. Loves chasing squirls & birds. Crate trained. He is a digger! Will need continued training on all commands.

His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75.

Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review.
