My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Whenever a sweet and engaging Border Collie (with a bit of Australian Shepherd in the mix for extra cuteness) gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are loving, super-smart and very devoted family members. While they may very well be initially shy, once comfortable in their environment, they truly blossom. Tessa has every potential to be a loving and devoted family member that shares 100% of her love and loyalty with her family members. Once acclimated to her new home, Tessa will fit in and make a great best friend for all age groups.

Tessa was approaching her euthanasia date at a high-kill Texas shelter due to lack of space. Farfel's was contacted about the beauty and wonderful temperament of this loving girl and we immediately fell in love and spoke up to save her life.

Tessa's Texas foster had the following to brag about sweet Tessa: Tessa was an owner relinquishment by a woman that was moving out of state and had no room or desire to keep Tessa. She shared that Tessa is great with older kids as she's loving and enjoys play and adventures. Tessa also loves other dogs and enjoys her backyard playtime with them. Her foster also noted that Tessa is well trained with good manners. She said that Tessa is a great girl that loves other dogs, has a playful personality, always has a sweet smile on her face and has the.most stunning blue eyes she's ever seen. Her description was that Tessa is very sweet, kind and bouncy and is invaluable in helping other dogs come out of their shell. Her foster mom ended with the following..whoever adopts this gorgeous girl is getting an awesome best friend and a gift that never stops giving.

Farfel's is seeking an individual or family for Tessa that spends lots of time at home enjoying this beautiful girl's company. A retired couple or individual will be perfect for Tessa as that age group tends to spend lots of quality time with their dog. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be an excellent choice for this devoted and loving best friend. Tessa is too sensitive a pup to be happy with a family that spends the long hours of full time employment working outside of the home.

Often rescue dogs are initially a bit shy, but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and lots of belly rubs, and they will shine. Tessa is one of these pups. She's a blank slate just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest companion ever.

Tessa is such a great age and size. At between 1 and 2 years old and 41 lbs, she is such a perfect age... young enough to be a blank slate open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life, yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind. Tessa weighs 41 lbs, the perfect medium size to accompany her family everywhere a sweet and well-behaved dog is welcome.

Tessa is lucky enough to have inherited the great personality traits of both the Border Collie and Australian Shepherd breeds. She is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Tessa is trained with a positive reinforcement trainer (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area) and given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs, she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be an awesome companion. Tessa has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please.

Tessa will love the gorgeous trails and neighborhood paths of Colorado. She's the perfect size to enjoy walks and socializing with neighbors and friends. Window shopping would also be great fun for Tessa to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's relationships. With feelings of security within the family, Tessa will also learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return.

Tessa has a gorgeous, cottony-soft coat that is currently shelter-sad. This stunning girl will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately once every 10 weeks) and excellent nutrition to keep her stunning coat cottony-soft, shining and matte-free.

Tessa will be arriving on transport on Wednesday 4/10/2024. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving and sweet as can be best friend and can be found at https://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in this loving and cuddly companion, please fill our application out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE ** If you're truly interested in adopting Tessa, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
