Meet George! He was one of four cockatiels that recently came to STAR when his owner was no longer able to care for him. George and his buddy John are sweet older men who enjoy singing and hanging out in a more hands-off manner in their cage. George is a little less timid than John, willing to eat millet from the hand, but neither have shown an interest in stepping up yet. But! It’s only been a short time and they have come so far. George would love a patient home that is understanding as he deals with a bit of arthritis in his feet. Their ideal home would love the company of some fabulous singers rather than requiring them to be hand tame right away. With time, they could easily get there. Do you have this kind of home? We will review your application, and perform a background check, vet check and when applicable, a landlord check.

For most species, a meeting is required. For some species, multiple meetings may be needed or required.

Sign Adoption Contract

Once approved, sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.

Take the Pet Home

Whether interested in adopting a particular bird or not, you will need to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. From there, our adoption team will process your application (including background check, veterinarian check for all current animals, and a home visit)
We will not ship any of our adoptable birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius. We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
