My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Gigi! I was rescued at Sacramento SPCA after my person died.

I’m a beautiful, affectionate, and shy kitty with a playful side. When humans meet me they really want to pet me, and I can’t blame them because my fur is fabulous and my tail is glorious, but I’m cautious and shy in new environments and around humans I don’t know. I prefer to take things slowly while getting to know humans, but once I know I can trust you, my sweet and affectionate purrsonality opens up!

I was very nervous when I first arrived in my foster home and although I hid most of the time, I did find a comfy and safe place to call my own... my kitty bed. I made my bed my safe place where I could observe my new surroundings while feeling safe and sound. After a short time, I began welcoming pets from my foster humans and sharing my purrs with them while relaxing in my bed. Now I’m walking around and exploring more and although I’m still not comfy receiving pets while I’m not in my bed, I’m spending more time in the room with my foster humans and feeling more at ease.

I do have a playful side and have been entertaining myself by batting, chasing, and rolling around with my toys. I wasn’t interested in playing with my foster humans before but now I’m now beginning to open up to it and it’s proving to be quite fun.

There’s a very chill resident kitty here and although I didn’t pay attention to him when I first arrived, I’m showing interest now that I’m feeling more comfortable. When he’s around I’ll come out to say “hi” and flop down in front of him to show my belly and purr. Having a chill kitty furiend in my forever home would be nice but isn't a must.

As I mentioned, I’m cautious and shy in new environments so I need a patient family who understands I’ll need time to adjust. If you give me your patience, I purromise I’ll reward you with all of my love!

You can see more of me here @sf_fosterfriend.

Please note:

  • Gigi is shy and needs a quiet home.
  • Indoor only

More about this rescue

Every day adult and senior cats with treatable medical and behavioral conditions are euthanized. GIVE ME SHELTER's goal is to rescue these cats from certain death and place them into loving permanent homes.
GMS is a registered 501(c)3 organization and is dedicated to helping stop the overpopulation of unwanted and abandoned cats. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to bettering the life of adult cats who no longer have a home to call their own. Every time you adopt from us, you allow us to save another cat that would have otherwise died. We receive new cats into our system almost every week. Our website is constantly being updated, so please check back often!
