My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Oscar! I was found abandoned in Central Valley.

I’m a handsome tabby & white polydactyl boy and I’m a confident, friendly, adaptable and affectionate lap cat. I love all humans and cats alike. All I want to do is to snuggle on your lap and be by your side all day long.

As soon as I met my foster humans, I trusted them and I went to them for attention and pets. And when it was time to explore my foster home, I immediately walked around and checked things out. When I was on the streets, I wasn’t sure when my next meal would be which was very hard for me because I love food! Even when I arrived in my foster home and hid under the couch for a bit, I readily came out when I smelled food, hehe. Within 1-2 days, I was fully settled in and was no longer hiding.

My personality is very easy-going, chill, mellow and loving. In the morning, I’m excited when my humans wake up and I like to follow them around to ask for pets. When they brush their teeth, I'm right there by the bathroom sink keeping them company. When it's time for them to work, I happily jump onto their laps to help them. I like to purr and make biscuits on their laps, and I like to be a well-behaved attendee in their zoom meetings and always get compliments from their colleagues. But if you don't want me to sleep on your lap while you work, just pull up another chair next to you and I'll happily sleep there.

I’m social and friendly when it comes to visitors. I’m quick to trust and I will eagerly ask for pets by rubbing against their legs even when we’re meeting for the first time. I’m also very good at being picked up and held; in fact, I enjoy it a lot. When my foster humans pick me up, I immediately start purring and kneading on their arms. Oh and I can't forget to mention that I have a playful side and will happily bat at a wand toy for a bit, though my hyper-energetic kitten days are behind me.

Last but not least, I can be your only fur baby but if you already have pets, I'd happily befriend them. My fosters are currently introducing me to their other foster cat, and my demeanor is curious, friendly, gentle and submissive. I would make a loving furiend for your resident pets. So what do you say? I would love to go home with you!

More about this rescue

Every day adult and senior cats with treatable medical and behavioral conditions are euthanized. GIVE ME SHELTER's goal is to rescue these cats from certain death and place them into loving permanent homes.
GMS is a registered 501(c)3 organization and is dedicated to helping stop the overpopulation of unwanted and abandoned cats. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to bettering the life of adult cats who no longer have a home to call their own. Every time you adopt from us, you allow us to save another cat that would have otherwise died. We receive new cats into our system almost every week. Our website is constantly being updated, so please check back often!
