My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peanut Butter Buster, a vibrant and energetic large mixed breed with a heart full of excitement! At 3 years of age, Peanut Butter Buster embarked on his journey at the shelter on April 1, 2024, as a stray, with no known history.

During his assessment on April 3, 2024, Peanut Butter Buster displayed moderate strength while leash walking, although he appeared hypervigilant, darting back and forth with keen interest in his surroundings. He showed no reactivity towards humans or other dogs during the assessment, demonstrating a friendly disposition.

In social settings, Peanut Butter Buster exhibited moderate sociability, readily approaching handlers and showing tolerance towards soft and exuberant handling. However, he displayed a tendency to jump up on handlers frequently, indicating a need for further training in basic manners and impulse control.

Despite his enthusiasm, Peanut Butter Buster's energy level is described as high, suggesting a need for daily mental and physical activities to keep him engaged and fulfilled. His potential challenges include basic manners and impulse control, especially concerning his habit of jumping up on handlers.

In interactions with other dogs, Peanut Butter Buster displayed tense body language and vocalizations, indicating potential discomfort or insecurity. Positive reinforcement and reward-based training are recommended to help him manage his reactions and build positive associations with other dogs.

Due to his jumping behavior, it is advised that Peanut Butter Buster finds a home without young children under 5 years old to ensure a safe and harmonious environment. With patience, consistent training, and plenty of love, Peanut Butter Buster has the potential to become a beloved companion and loyal friend.

If you're ready to welcome Peanut Butter Buster into your home and heart, consider adopting him and providing him with the love and guidance he deserves!

A volunteer writes: Peanut Butter Buster (PBB) makes me smile everytime I see him! With his wagging tail and impish grin, this goofy young-ish fella is a playful pup who is a favorite. Still getting the hang of the ABCs of polite doggie behavior, PBB appreciates playtime and he's been working hard on learning skills like "sit" - especially when there are yummy treats as a reward. PB Buster will be a perfect addition to a loving home with a person(s) who will be patient as he continues to learn, and we think he'd do best in an environment without small kiddos (at least initially).
